About Morris Armstrong

Morris Armstrong is the owner of Armstrong Financial Strategies, a fee only financial planning and investment advisory firm located in Danbury, CT.

His firm received recognition as one of the best in Connecticut and was the only FEE ONLY firm honored that year.

He has had a long and distinguished career in finance and financial markets.  For twenty five years he was a currency and bond trader for various financial institutions here and abroad.  He witnessed the floating of the dollar and through experienced eyes realizes now how day to day volatility is simply noise.

Upon leaving the institutional world in 1995 he pursued a career in financial planning, first on the commission side and then transitioned into the Fee Only world in 2001 when he formed Armstrong Financial Strategies.  Acknowledging that compensation does not define a person’s ethical behavior he believes that the consumer is best served when involved in a fiduciary relationship.  The legal protection afforded the consumer is considered stronger.

A graduate of Pace University in NYC he also did some graduate work at St. John’s University in Queens NY.  He has completed numerous financial programs dealing with planning and investments and has taught the investment module to candidates for the CFP® program at Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY.

He has received training as a Divorce Mediator and training in the Collaborative field of divorce. That may be among his biggest passions; assisting people through a less explosive situation where family relationships are not destroyed with the ending of the marriage.

He is quoted often in major publications such as The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Christian Science Monitor and Investment News.  He has been a contributing writer to Wealth Manager Magazine, Financial Planning Magazine and The NAPFA Advisor.  His contributions have also been in Nancy Jones book “So you Want to Be a Financial Planner”.

As a paid journalist for Multex Investor, now owned by Reuters he wrote numerous articles dealing with personal finance, insurance, investments and estate planning.  Until they recently folded he was contributing on a regular basis to FiLife.com which was a venture between the Wall Street Journal and IAC.

He has appeared in various media including Gerri Willis' show on CNN and on Dow Jones.

He has held various regional board positions with NAPFA, the ADFP and the FPA.
